bbquarianEvery Lil Step is a blog about gaining control of your health, money, and life one day at a time.

My name is Kim. I’m 27 years old, and I live in Brooklyn, New York. In the past year I’ve taken control of my life, actively taking steps to grow in my relationship with Jesus, reach full health, overcome financial debt, and discover my unique gifts and purpose in life. While I still have some “steps” to go in this lifelong process, at 27 I’m feeling better and living better than ever before, and I’m excited to share what I’m learning with others along the way.

First, a little bit about me…

I grew up all over the great state of Ohio and moved to New York City in 2004 after graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Music Industry – Audio Production and minors in Music and Women’s Studies. By day, I work in the music industry handling publicity and marketing for urban artists. But just recently I’ve started diving into my true love and what I feel is my real calling – nutrition and wellness – and I hope to pursue this passion into a full time career.

My Life as a Christian

MOMAI was raised in a Catholic family and have been a Christian since a very young age. As a teenager, I started attending non-denominational Christian churches and, while I was baptized as a baby within the Catholic Church, I took the step of adult baptism in the summer of 2008 as a way of “renewing my vows” with Jesus and taking my walk with God to the next level. That decision has turned out to be one of the most rewarding steps I’ve ever taken, and I’m doing my best to actively grow in my relationship with God on a daily basis through daily prayer, Bible study, leading a Christian “small group” and serving with my church whenever I can. Right now I’m working on simplifying my life and connecting with my gifts and passions to make a difference in the world, and I’m writing about every step of it here on Every Lil Step.

Reclaiming My Health

In addition, this past year has been a pivotal year for me in getting healthy as I’ve made huge strides in overcoming late stage Lyme Disease. Read about my story with Lyme Disease here. After years of suffering and feeling like I had no choice but to sit on the sidelines of life, I’m reclaiming my health and discovering how I can feel great, look great, and live life to the fullest with a nutritious diet, exercise, a chemical free environment, and of course a positive outlook and lots of PRAYER. At the age of 26, I feel better than I’ve ever felt in my entire life. And I hope that in some way, I can help others suffering with illness and chronic health conditions find the same physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual peace I’m finding on a daily basis.

Getting My Money Right

kimcloseupI’m currently in the process of a Total Money Makeover that is changing my life. While searching for the cause and cure of all of my symptoms, I accrued a large amount of medical debt. Add that to student loans and a slew of other expenses I’d charged along the way when a starting salary in the “biz” wasn’t always enough to cover the cost of living. Just one year ago, I assumed that debt would always be a part of my life. I never thought it would be possible for me to save for the future, pay down debt, get the medical treatment I need to overcome Lyme, and live a natural lifestyle all at the same time. But taking the Total Money Makeover challenge has shown me otherwise. I’m still in the process of my Total Money Makeover, and yes, I’ve had setbacks along the way. But I’m already reaping the benefits of being in control of my money, and I’m determined to finish and experience the freedom that a debt free life has to offer.

So that’s it in a nutshell. I’m excited about all the things God is doing in my life – growing me in relationship with him, healing me from Lyme, showing me how to live a healthy life and molding me to reach my full potential. And while I know it will be a lifelong process, I’m living life and loving it every day! It’s all part of my Every Lil Step…
